Ground Guard

Ground Guard™ was developed to permit a silent watchstander to be present aboard your vessel 24 hours a day for the sole purpose of ensuring that the water ahead of your vessel is safe for passage. The research in developing this solution came from the extensive discussions with Marine Insurance Carriers, the Oil Transportation Industry, and Lloyds Casualty Weekly. It was found that in 98% of all grounding cases the navigation chart clearly indicated that the vessel did not have enough water to operate in "After the Fact." The approach is passive and foolproof. A protective rectangle shaped area is created ahead of the vessel. The operator keys in a length and beam component (i.e. in NM, meters, or feet). An alarm will sound if any of the following enter this Ground Guard™ zone:

  • Low mean water depth numbers (falling below an operator selected setting)
  • Charted rocks
  • Historical grounding sites (local knowledge is input by the user)

The vessel's electronic icon is sized proportionally (i.e. 680 ft. long and 65 ft. beam). As a result, scaling is then proportional to all other chart information presented so that the operator has a true realtime graphic representation of this movements in the waterway.

User code access of all grounding alarms showing time, date, position, course, speed, and Ground Guard™ settings are stored in memory.

Complete voyage recording is done at user selected intervals, which enables the operator to replay his exact actions and vessel movements at anytime. This can also be reproduced in hard copy.

System Performance specification in differential:

Position1.0 meter
Speed0.1 knot
Course0.5 degree
Time1.0 second

Ground Guard™ comes complete with its own battery backed power supply and can accommodate any number of full function repeaters. Optional Radar Target, Voice Recording, and RPM are also available.

NAVSAFE™, the most advanced form of integrity monitoring in the industry, is used to verify position solution determined by the system. It ensures the level of accuracy required at all times. If for any reason the position solution falls outside the required parameters an alarm will sound.

Other advanced navigation features are available which permit you to have your senior captain on every voyage. Our success can be summed up in one word, technology. Your success can be summed up in two words, Ground Guard™.
